PORT CLINTON, Ohio -- Emily Larson fired a season-best, 1-over-par 73, and freshman Meredith Langs added a career-best 78 to lead the Bucknell women's golf team on Tuesday in the final round of the Rocket Classic at the Catawba Island Club. The Bison closed with a 321 team score and finished in 11th place with a 973 total over 54 holes.
After posting scores of 92-82 on Monday, Larson had the hot hand for the Bison in round three. She made four birdies in a five-hole span from Nos. 5-9, including a pair of 2s on par-three holes. Larson played her final eight holes of the day in 3-under. Her 73 was the third-best score in the field.
Langs made a birdie on her final hole of the day -- No. 11 -- and shot even par with two birdies and a double-bogey on the course's back nine.
Bucknell's low player for the week was Lindsay Dodovich, who shot 80 on Tuesday after opening with 76-79. Her 235 total put her in a tie for 26th place. Katie Childers and Eunbbie Kim both finished with 90s.
Eastern Kentucky closed with a 308 to edge Western Michigan by two shots for the team title. Toledo, Loyola (Ill.) and Eastern Michigan rounded out the top five. The Bison finished ahead of IPFW, Illinois-Chicago and Green Bay in the 14-team field.
Julia Champion captured medalist honors with a 2-over 218 (73-73-72). Kelsey Murphy of Eastern Michigan was second at 4-over after closing with a 69.
The Bison will now be idle until the Oct. 23-24 Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley CC.
