EASTON, Pa. – Competing in its final regular season meet of the 2016 season, the Bucknell women’s cross country team had a strong showing with a second-place finish out of five teams at the Leopard Invitational, hosted by Lafayette at Metzgar Fields Athletic Complex, the site of the league championships.
Bucknell tallied a score of 43, finishing ahead of Lafayette (78), Seton Hall (83) and St. Joseph’s (111). Temple won the team title with a score of 33.
Margaret Thomson was the first Bucknell runner to cross the line, taking third in a field of 52 participants in the 6k race with a time of 22:34. Grace Moore of Temple won the individual race, finishing in 22:17. The Owls earned the top two spots in the standings.
Tabitha Wismer finished sixth in 23:16, followed by Lindsay Schafer in ninth to give Bucknell three runners in the top 10. Kathleen Fitzgerald finished 11th in the standings, followed by Madison Narr (14th), Mikayla Cochrane (22nd) and Morgan Price (26th) to round out the Bison finishers in the top half of the field.
Bucknell is set to compete at the Patriot League Championships on Oct. 29 at Lafayette.
