WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Four Bison qualified for the ECAC Outdoor Championships Thursday on the opening day of the Colonial Relays at William & Mary. In addition, three Bison posted top-10 program marks.
All four Bison qualified in the 10,000-meter event. Colleen Buckley scored in the race, taking sixth in a field of 33 runners with a time of 35:23.86, now third-fastest in school history. Lauren Gronbeck turned in a top-10 effort with a mark of 35:58.00, now fifth-fastest in school annals. Christine O’Kane completed the race in 37:15.29, while Brennan Sharkey finished in 37:28.96, both meeting the ECAC requirement.
Jenna Farmer scored for Bucknell in the 3,000m, taking fourth with a time of 9:50.56, now the fifth-fastest mark in Bison history.
Molly Montalvo scored in the hammer throw championship, taking eighth with a heave 150-08.
“Very good day one,” said head coach Kevin Donner. “Montalvo scoring in the hammer got us on the board and Farmer ran a real nice 3k that ranks her in our top-10 all-time. The four 10k runners all got ECAC standard with Buckley and Gronbeck both under 36 minutes which is very good for their first time running that distance. It was great to see O’Kane and Sharkey qualifying for ECAC after just missing last year.”
The Colonial Relays resumes Friday and will conclude on Saturday.
