HELLERTOWN, Pa. -- Connor O'Brien recorded the fourth top-10 finish of his rookie year, leading the Bucknell men's golf squad to a 12th-place finish among 19 teams at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Lafayette at Silver Creek Country Club.

O'Brien followed up his opening-round, 1-over-par 72 with a 77 in Monday's final round, giving him a terrific 149 total in a tournament that was played in miserable weather conditions. Sunday's opening round featured temperatures in the low-40s and severe wind, and then on Monday rain showers were added to the cold and wind.

O'Brien finished three strokes behind medalist P.J. Acierno of La Salle, who shot 73-73 for a 146 composite. Matt Schiller of Fordham was second with a 147, followed by Kyle Wambold of Binghamton at 148. O'Brien and Lafayette's Patrick Luther tied for fourth at 149.

O'Brien started his final round on the 10th hole and quickly followed up a bogey with a birdie on the par-4 11th. He would go on to par 12 of his final 16 holes, but lamented a pair of double-bogeys on par-3 holes.

Bucknell tallied a 310 team score on Monday, as O'Brien, J.P. Raftery and D.J. Magee all shot 77. Jubal Early added a 79, followed by Nick Geissler with an 80. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the five-man Bison squad had only four holes worse than bogey all day.

Fordham won the tournament with a 601 team score (303-298). Runner-up Binghamton was nine shots back.

The Bison will be back in action on Apr. 16 at the Yale Invitational.
