LEWISBURG, Pa. – Senior Max Kane recorded a win at No. 3 singles in the final home match of his career, but the Bucknell men’s tennis team lost 4-1 to visiting Boston University on Saturday at the Varsity Tennis Courts.

Kane cruised to a straight-sets win over David Bogatin, 6-0, 6-1.  The Terriers’ freshman has over 20 wins on the season.

Junior Andrei Vitiuc (court two) and senior Ben Gerber (court six) were tied at one set apiece in their respective matches when play was halted.

The doubles point went down to the wire as the teams split the first two completed matches, but Boston University won in a tiebreaker on court two to secure the point. Bucknell’s doubles victory came on court one where senior Daniel Wright teamed with Gerber to bear Bogatin and Fabian Soemarno, 6-4.

Bucknell’s four seniors – Timber Erskine, Gerber, Kane, and Wright – were honored for Senior Day prior to the match.

The Bison saw their record dip to 5-21 overall and 2-5 in the Patriot League, while the Terriers improved to 13-11 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

Just one match remains on Bucknell’s regular season schedule. The Bison will play at Loyola on Sunday at 3 p.m.
