ELKTON, Md. – Bucknell ran into its toughest competition of the season to date in a 7-0 loss to Delaware in non-conference women’s tennis action Saturday. The Bison dropped to 5-2 on the season, while the Blue Hens improved to 3-4.

Junior Madeline Melch lost for the first time this spring, falling to 6-1, but not without a fight. She dropped the first set 6-3 before tying the match at No. 4 singles with a 6-3 win of her own in set two. The third set was a battle, but Delaware’s Annie Jaskulski came out on top, 12-10.

Senior Melissa Parks also went three sets in her match at No. 6 singles before falling to 5-1 during the spring.

“Delaware played really smart. They have a very good team,” Bucknell head coach Rebecca Helt said. “We fought in a couple of spots but for the most part, we just couldn't find our rhythm today.”
