LEWISBURG, Pa. – Emily Konishi handed out a program-record eight assists to lead the Bucknell women’s water polo team to a 14-6 win over conference foe George Washington Saturday at Kinney Natatorium.

Seven different scored in the match. Marta Considine scored a game-high four goals, while Shyla Lintz, Sarah MooneyGigi Rojahn and Konishi finished with two goals apiece.

Bucknell tallied 13 assists, including a career-high eight from Konishi. Konishi’s 10 points (2G, 8A) ties the school-record for most points in a single match. The last Bison to finish with 10 points was Kandis Canonica in 2011.

After trading goals in the early minutes of the match, the Bison scored four straight times to end the first period and tacked on three more goals in the second quarter to lead 8-2 at halftime.

Bucknell scored six more goals in the third period en route to picking up its first conference win of the season.

The Bison were active on the defensive end, generating a season-best 16 steals. Konishi finished with four, while Tegan Stanbach, Mooney and Colleen Barron recorded two swipes each.

Lintz, Stanbach and Considine each drew three ejections. Barron and Konishi combined to win all four sprints.

Manuela Herrera started in cage, recording nine saves while handing out one assist in the win.

The Bison return to the pool at 7 p.m. for the nightcap against No. 10 Princeton. Before the game, Stanbach, Haley Derrod and Julia Ulrich will be honored for their hardwork and dedication to the Bucknell women’s water polo program. Match time is slated for 7 p.m. and will broadcast on the Patriot League Network.
