BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Bucknell volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Lehigh on Saturday in a Patriot League match at Grace Hall. The Bison fell to 11-12 overall and 5-8 in the conference, falling by scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-14. The loss came to a solid Mountain Hawks team that improved to 17-11 overall and 9-4 in the league.

Sophomore Hailey Stout led the Bison in digs for the second straight match, recording 15 in addition to six kills. Senior Karen Campbell shared the team lead with Stout with six kills and factored in on five of the team’s 14 blocks. Freshman Blake Buchholz chipped in with 11 digs, and senior Meghan Wentzel had 21 assists.

Whitney Krantz, Leah Turner and Stephanie Slater each had 11 kills for Lehigh. Amy Matula finished with 40 assists and had three of the team’s seven aces.

“It was a tough one tonight,” said Bucknell head coach Anna Allison. “We started strong and competed, but we never really found our stride. We will get back to work on Monday and start preparing for some important matches left on the schedule.”

Bucknell has three matches left in the regular season, starting with an away match at Loyola (Md.) on Saturday. The Bison close the season with home matches against Army West Point and Holy Cross. The Bison are 2-1 this season against those three teams, setting them up nicely for a chance to go above .500.
