ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Bucknell ‘s record is back at .500 after a 3-0 sweep at Loyola (Md.) in Patriot League volleyball action Saturday at Reitz Arena. The Bison are 12-12 overall and 6-8 in league play after winning by scores of 25-22, 25-13, 25-20,
Bucknell has now swept Loyola (Md.) in four straight meetings. The latest dropped the Greyhounds to 6-22 overall and 1-12 in the conference. The win for the Bison put them all alone in fifth in the conference standings.
“It was a great effort by our players tonight,” said Bucknell head coach Anna Allison. “We got off to a slow start, but we turned it around and got in sync. We played a good match.”
Freshman Blake Buchholz had a huge game for Bucknell, totaling 14 kills and no errors on 23 attempts for a .609 hitting percentage. She also continued to do her part on the back line, recording a team-high nine digs.
The Bison hit a sparkling .374 as a team. Freshman Stephanie Occhiogrosso and sophomore Hailey Stout tallied seven kills apiece, while senior Karen Campbell and junior Erika Eastley each added six. Senior Meghan Wentzel assisted on 34 of the team’s 37 kills.
Jane Lukas and Haley Puddy had seven kills apiece for Loyola. The Greyhounds received 13 assists from Megan Mondon and 11 digs from Micah Duzey.
Bucknell closes its season with a pair of Patriot League matches. The Bison will host Army West Point on Friday and Holy Cross on Saturday.
