WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Andrew Andreychik retired the final 10 hitters he faced and Bucknell outhit LIU Brooklyn 5-2, but neither team was able to plate a run before the rain came in the top of the sixth inning Wednesday at Chain of Lakes Stadium. The game officially ended in a 0-0 tie with statistics through five innings counting for both squads as unplayable field conditions did not allow the contest to continue.
Andreychik gave up just two hits and struck out one as he pitched all five innings for the Bison, who are now 5-7-1. Nick Freijomil logged all five innings for LIU Brooklyn (4-7-1). He struck out five.
One day after posting three hits opposite Central Michigan, Spencer Stokes led Bucknell with a 2-for-2 performance as he reached base in all three plate appearances. Joe Ogren, Carter Austin and Anthony Gingerelli also registered hits for the Bison.
Wednesday’s tie was the first for Bucknell since 2008.
The Bison will be idle Thursday before resuming play Friday with a doubleheader against Bowling Green at 10 a.m. at Henley Field.
