DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Bison scored seven runs over the final three innings to come from behind and defeat Hartford 8-5 Sunday at Wilson Field. Bucknell (4-5) recorded 14 hits in the win to cap off a 2-1 weekend at Davidson.

Bucknell’s first four hitters combined for eight hits, five RBIs and five runs scored. Sam Clark and Keifer Rawlings each homered in the win.

Jeff Gottesman pitched five innings, scattering six hits and striking out three. Jack Grabek (1-1) was strong in relief, allowing just two hits and one run over the final four innings.

Hartford (1-5) scored two runs in the first inning and one in the third to take a 3-1 lead.

The Bison cut into the deficit in the fifth inning, thanks to Clark’s two-run home run to right field. Hartford answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to extend its lead.

Seven of Bucknell’s 14 hits came in the final three innings, as the Bison tied the game 4-4 in the seventh inning. Danny Rafferty hit a leadoff double, advancing around the bases following Rawling’s second collegiate homer to left field.

Bucknell plated three in the eighth inning. Chuckie Scales was hit by a pitch, placing him on base. After stealing second, JohnPaul Bell singled to right to place runners on second and third. Brett Smith doubled to left field on his at bat, scoring the go-ahead run and advancing Bell to third. On the following at bat, Rafferty cleared the bases with a two-run double.

The Bison scored one more time in the ninth after loading up the bases on their first three at bats. Scales singled up the middle to score Rawlings and Evan Klugerman.

John Mormile got the start for the Hawks, pitching five innings, allowing six hits and two runs scored. Five relievers came in for the final four innings. Nathan Florence was credited with the loss.

Bucknell will make its annual spring break trip down to Port Charlotte, Florida, on Mar. 11-18. The Bison will play seven games, including two against Big Ten schools and three games with Massachusetts.
