LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The Bucknell women's basketball team celebrated Senior Day with a 73-56 win over Boston University on Saturday afternoon at Sojka Pavilion. The Bison's 24th consecutive home win gave seniors Claire DeBoer, Megan McGurk, and Sune Swart their 80th win as a class, a program record. Bucknell has now clinched a top-two seed in the Patriot League Tournament and will host a quarterfinal home game on Monday, March 6.

The Orange and Blue (21-5, 13-2) received strong performances from all three of its seniors. DeBoer led all players with 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and four steals, while McGurk scored a season-high 12 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists. Sune Swart added 10 points and five rebounds prior to fouling out, while sophomore Kyi English gave the Bison four double-digit scorers with her 13 points.

Bucknell won its fourth straight game and hasn’t trailed in any of the four contests. The Bison led by as much as 24 in the fourth quarter.

DeBoer moved into a tie with Vicki Quimby for fourth on Bucknell’s all-time scoring list with 1,570 career points. She also passed Marie Kocornik for fifth on the career rebounding list with 848 and is now all alone in 10th on the career assists list with 272.

The Bison defense stepped up big again. One game after giving up just 39 points in a win over Loyola, they held the Terriers to six points in the first quarter and 18 points in the first half while taking a 12-point lead into the break. Bucknell head coach Aaron Roussell credited the defensive effort as a whole, but made special note of Swart’s defense on 6-5 center Sophie Beaudry, who scored seven points on 2-of-8 shooting and had zero rebounds. Beaudry has played a big role in the Terriers’ improvement this season, averaging 12.9 points and 6.1 rebounds.

Kaitlyn Slagus contributed nine points and eight rebounds for Bucknell, while Kate Walker hit a pair of 3-pointers and tallied eight points. Walker is shooting 45 percent (38-84) from long range on the season.

The Terriers (11-15, 9-6) received 13 points and eight rebounds from Corrine Williams. They saw their four-game-winning streak snapped, falling to 11-15 overall and 9-6 in the conference.

Bucknell and Navy remain tied atop the Patriot League standings with three games to play. The Bison play at Lafayette, at Navy, and home against Lafayette to close out the regular season. The Mids have a pair of games against American in addition to the game against the Bison.

Both semifinal games and the championship game will be played at the site of the highest remaining seed after the quarterfinals.

Bucknell’s game at Lafayette on Wednesday is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Leopards are 2-25 overall and 1-14 in the Patriot League after a 69-60 loss at Lehigh on Saturday.
