LEWISBURG, Pa. – Rade Joksimovic scored a game-high six goals and added one assist as the No. 13-ranked Bucknell men’s water polo team closed the regular season with a 17-10 victory over Johns Hopkins Sunday afternoon at Kinney Natatorium. The Bison finished the regular season 20-4 overall and 9-1 in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference play. It is the first 20-win season for Bucknell since 2007.

Bucknell, which is 2-0 against Johns Hopkins (4-17, 4-6 MAWPC) this year, used a seven-goal first-quarter to help build a 10-4 halftime edge. The Bison then coasted to their sixth consecutive victory as they completed a 3-0 weekend against conference foes. Bucknell, the conference regular-season champion, defeated Fordham and Wagner on Saturday.

Joksimovic, who now ranks fourth on the program’s single-season goals list with 124, scored four of his six goals in the first half. Jeff Hagen added three goals, while Nate Hunter and Logan Schofield had two apiece. Sean Daley dished out four assists, lifting his career total to 175, the fifth-most in program history.

Head coach John McBride, who earned his 100th career victory on Saturday, played his entire roster in the game. The Bison actually trailed 2-1 in the opening minutes, but scored six straight goals at one stretch during the first quarter.

Bucknell, which has reached 20 wins in a season for just the ninth time in school history, will head to the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Championships as the top seed in the eight-team field. The Bison will host the event Nov. 18-20 at Kinney Natatorium. Bucknell is a sparkling 84-35 all-time in the facility.
