PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Colleen Buckley ran the second-fastest time in Bucknell history in the 3,000-meter race on Thursday, as a contingent of Bison competed at the Penn Relays at Franklin Field.

In a field of 33 runners, Buckley finished seventh with a time of 9:40.36, just missing the school record of 9:40.32 recorded by Julie Sweitzer in 1999.

In the steeplechase, Sarah Chandler, the school record holder in the event, finished with a time of 10:45.86. Chandler placed in the top-10 of her section, comprised of 26 runners.

Meg Sangimino competed in the championship javelin throw. Sangimino, who owns the top mark in the Patriot League this season, posted a heave of 145-11.

Luke Giugliano ran in the 5,000m, finishing among the top half of the field with a time of 14:32.39

"Our athletes may have been a tad flat coming off some very successful home meets," said head coach Kevin Donner. "We did not have season bests but I thought our athletes battled well and represented Bucknell well. Buckley just missed a school record in the 3k and Chandler muscled her way to a solid race in the steeple. Luke ran a very good race even though it was not his best time. It was good to see Meg compete well in the championship javelin

In a final tune-up before the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, the Bison will send a group to Bloomsburg on Saturday to compete at the Maroon and Gold Invitational.
