LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Senior Lindsay Dodovich fired an even-par 70 in the second round to highlight Bucknell's opening day at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday. The Bison, who are making their 2017-18 season debut, posted rounds of 333 and 310, and they sit comfortably in second place in a six-team field heading into Sunday's final round. Dodovich, who bounced back nicely after an opening-round 82, is in fourth place, behind only three players from Yale.
The Bulldogs compiled rounds of 290 and 304, and their 594 total is 49 strokes clear of Bucknell's 643. Niagara is in third place at 667, followed by Holy Cross (670), La Salle (674) and Hampton (713).
Bucknell freshman Casey Morrow had a solid debut performance, carding matching 79s to sit in a tie for 10th place. Morrow was the only Bison to put up two rounds in the 70s on a busy Saturday played in pleasant conditions. Rounding out Bucknell's starting five were Katie Childers (85-81), Erin Holmes (87-80) and Meredith Langs (87-83). Eunbbie Kim (88-81) and Anna Dailey (93-87) are competing as individuals.
Dodovich's 70 was the best score of the day in either round in the entire field. The score matches her career best, although this one came on a par-70 course. She has twice posted 2-under 70s on a par-72 track.
Jennifer Peng of Yale compiled a 5-over-par total of 145 (71-74) to take a two-shot lead over teammate Julie Luo. Yale's Jayshree Sarathy is in third place at 150.
The third and final round gets underway on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
