FLOSSMOOR, Ill. -- Led by second-round 79s from Lindsay Dodovich, Casey Morrow and Katie Childers, the Bucknell women's golf team improved by 14 strokes from round one to round two and sits in ninth place at the Loyola Chicago Fall Invitational at Flossmoor Country Club.
Bucknell opened with a 335, led by an 81 from the Chicago native Dodovich. The Bison came back with a 321 in the afternoon, and they will have a good chance to move up several spots in the standings in Tuesday's final round. At 656 total, the Bison sit just three strokes out of sixth place.
The host Ramblers are at 622 through 36 holes (307-315) and will take an eight-shot lead over Butler into the final round. Montana (637), IUPUI (638) and Creighton (640) round out the top five. Omaha (653), Green Bay (653) and Illinois-Chicago (654) sit just in front of the Bison, while Valparaiso (661) and Chicago State (737) occupy the final two spots.
Dodovich is currently tied for 13th place at 160 (81-79). Morrow and Childers had matching rounds of 84-79 and are T-25th. Also for Bucknell, Meredith Langs carded 86-84, and Erin Holmes shot 88-87. Anna Dailey had a solid day playing as an individual, shooting 82-83.
The individual leader is Aneta Abrahamova of IUPUI. She produced rounds of 76-74 and leads Elayna Bowser of Loyola by one stroke.
The third and final round gets underway Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
