LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell placed four wrestlers on the EIWA All-Academic Team for the second straight year while also landing one wrestler on the NWCA All-Academic Team. Freshman national qualifier Garrett Hoffman led the way for the Bison, earning a spot on both teams.
Hoffman is the first Bucknell freshman to earn NWCA All-Academic honors. The rookie received an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships after going 18-14 during the regular season. He finished 18-16 overall and 5-1 in EIWA dual matches while recording three major decisions and one tech fall.
Lopez, a senior economics major, earned his second straight EIWA All-Academic award. He qualified for the NCAA Championships for the second straight year where he went 1-2, including a 5-3 win over Wisconsin's Timothy Ruschell in the opening round. Lopez went 28-9 overall, 8-2 in EIWA dual matches, and placed fifth at the EIWA Championships. He ranks seventh on Bucknell's career wins list with a record of 108-53.
Sleigh, a junior environmental studies major, qualified for the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive season, earning an automatic bid with a runner-up finish at the EIWA Championships. Fueled by a 22-match winning streak, he finished 31-7 overall, 15-1 in dual matches, and a perfect 10-0 in EIWA duals. Sleigh was unbeaten in matches in which bonus points were earned, finishing with 11 major decisions, three tech falls, and three pins. He is a two-time EIWA All-Academic recipient.
Gould was one of the most improved wrestlers on the team over the course of the season. The freshman went 14-14 overall after going 9-4 over his final 13 matches. Included during that final stretch was an eighth-place finish at the EIWA Championships.
Bucknell finished 12-4 overall, tying for the second most wins in program history for a second consecutive season. The Bison went 9-1 in EIWA duals and finished the season with an impressive 10-match winning streak.
