LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell director of athletics and recreation John Hardt will begin serving on the Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Executive Committee in 2017-18.

Hardt, who is in his 18th year at the helm of Bucknell’s Division I athletics program, has been heavily involved in college athletics governance on a national level throughout his career, particularly in the sport of football. A former football student-athlete himself at the University of Iowa, Hardt served on the NCAA Division I FCS Committee from 2003-07, culminating with a stint as committee chair in 2007. From 2003-07, he worked on the NCAA Division I Football Issues Committee.

Now in its 24th year, the FCS ADA serves to enhance Football Championship Subdivision football. The FCS ADA is administered by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and works alongside the NCAA in promoting and advancing FCS football. Hardt will not be the only Patriot League presence in the organization this year. Lafayette AD Bruce McCutcheon will be 1st Vice President, while Holy Cross AD Nathan Pine will serve as 3rd Vice President.

“I am excited to represent Bucknell and the Patriot League on the FCS ADA Executive Committee,” said Hardt. “FCS football has continued to grow in popularity and prestige, and the FCS playoffs are annually among the most highly regarded championships offered by the NCAA.”

The Bucknell football team opens its 2017 season at home against Marist on Sept. 2 at 6 p.m.
