LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell women’s soccer head coach Kelly Cook and assistant coaches David Madsen and Leigh Howard have been named National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Women’s Regional Staff of the Year, announced by the association on Wednesday.

The Bison staff guided the squad to one of the most successful seasons in program history. Bucknell finished 16-2-2 overall and 8-1-0 in the Patriot League, capturing its third league title and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005. The Bison placed a league-high eight players to All-Patriot League Teams, while claiming three major awards, including Cook earning Patriot League Coach of the Year honors for the second straight season.

In addition to getting it done on the pitch, the Bison are also getting it done in the classroom. Under the guidance of the coaching staff, the Bison played three players on CoSIDA All-District and Academic All-Patriot League Teams, while two student-athletes were named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans. 

Since arriving to Lewisburg in 2015, Cook and her staff have compiled a record of 27-8-5, including a 14-2-2 mark in Patriot League play.

The NSCAA Regional Staff of the Year recipients will be placed on the ballot for NSCAA National Staff of the Year consideration. The ballot will also include the addition of coaching staffs from any schools that advance to the semifinals of their NCAA Championship. The NSCAA will announce the National Staff of the Year on December 20.
