LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's swimming and diving started off a busy weekend with a home meet against West Virginia on Friday night at Kinney Natatorium, falling to the Mountaineers 158-81. The Bison had six runner-up finishes on the night.

Friday’s meet was the first of two in less than 24 hours for Bucknell. It returns to the pool Saturday at noon to host the Bison Invite. They will be joined at the event by American, Lafayette, Navy, Seton Hall, and Shippensburg.

Bucknell had 2-3-4 finishes in a pair of events. Brittany Bishop was the runner-up in the 100 free, where she was followed by Caroline Edelman and Rachel Perry. In the 200 breast, Mary Weinstein took second and was followed by Leah Bloodgood and Brooke Collins.

Collins added a runner-up showing of her own, taking second in the 400 IM, while Abby Merriman finished third in the event. Rachel Perry took second in the 50 free to round out the runner-up finishers for the Bison.

Bucknell took second in a pair of relays. Julie Byrne, Libby O'Hare, Julianna Foss, and Brittany Bishop made up the Bison’s 400 medley relay team, while the 400 free relay was comprised of Byrne, Katherine O'Shea, Edelman, and Rachel McGoff.

The Bison, which competed head-to-head against the Mountaineers for the first time, dropped to 4-7 on the season.
