LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Abigail Rosenberg set a school record in the 100 free and led off the 400 free relay that also set a school record Saturday to highlight the final day of the Patriot League Championships for the Bucknell women’s swimming and diving team at Kinney Natatorium.

Including the two school records, Bucknell established nine program top-10 times on the final day of the championships meet. The Bison finished fifth out of 10 teams with 502 points. Navy won the team title with 868.5 points, while Army West Point was second with 537.5.

Rosenberg actually broke the 100 free record twice on the day. She set a new mark with a time of 50.61 in the prelims, and then went 50.42 while taking third in the finals. Both swimmers from Navy that finished ahead of her had NCAA “B” cut times. Senior Rachel Perry took 10th, and her time of 51.42 in the prelims was the 10th fastest in program history. Sophomore Brittany Bishop finished 14th.

The Bison opened the 2017 Patriot League Championships with a school record in the 200 medley relay on Wednesday night, and closed it with a school record in the 400 free relay on Saturday night. Rosenberg led off and was followed by Bishop, junior Caroline Edelman, and Perry. The group, which is the same four that previously held the record, finished in 3:24.61.

Freshman Abby Merriman started the night off for Bucknell with a fifth-place finish in the 1650 free, doing so with the third-fastest time (16:54.90) in program history. Her 1000 split of 10:14.17 moved her into third at Bucknell in that event. Senior Paige Daniel scored points with a 13th-place finish.

Freshman Emma Hadley followed that with the fifth-fastest time (1:59.59) at Bucknell while taking fourth in the 200 back. Sophomore Julie Byrne finished sixth and her time of 1:59.88 is sixth all-time at Bucknell. Sophomore Steph Boyd was ninth.

Bucknell had four swimmers score points in the 200 breast, including two that made the “A” final. Junior Leah Bloodgood was sixth in 2:20.02, good enough for seventh all-time at Bucknell, while sophomore Mary Weinstein finished right behind her in seventh. Senior Diana Hanson was ninth, and freshman Libby O’Hare finished 16th.

Junior Julianna Foss, a two-time First Team All-Patriot League selection, finished fourth in the 200 fly. Sophomore Lindsay Smalec was 10th with the sixth-fastest time (2:04.66) at Bucknell.

The Bison will have a two-week break before competing at the ECAC Championships in Annapolis on March 3-5.
