ANNAPOLIS. Md. – Bucknell is off to a great start at the ECAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, scoring 135 points Friday to move into third after the first of three days of competition at Navy’s Lejeune Hall.

Navy has 198 points to lead the 18 teams that have scored points, while Penn is second with 160. Marist (129) and Columbia (112.5) round out the top five.

Senior Paige Daniel established a new program top-10 time for the Bison while taking sixth in the 500 free. She touched the wall in 4:55.68, good enough for seventh in school history. Finishing one spot behind her was teammate Maggie Orem.

Rachel Perry had the top finish for Bucknell, taking third out of 41 swimmers in the 50 free. Diana Hanson also had a solid showing with a sixth-place finish in the 200 IM.

Bucknell’s 200 free relay team of Megan Barpoulis, Caroline Orem, Perry, and Hanson took fifth, while the 400 medley relay team of C. Orem, Brooke Collins, Jasmine Spinelli, and Daniel were sixth.

Tally Ford led the divers with a sixth-place finish.

Competition resumes with the second day of prelims on Saturday at 10 a.m.
