LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell rising junior Julie Byrne has been named a Scholar All-America Honorable Mention by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Byrne earned the honor for the first time after an outstanding sophomore season.

To receive Honorable Mention status, a student-athlete must have achieved a GPA of 3.50 and met a "B" time standard or competed at a regional or zone qualifying meet.

Byrne achieved a “B” standard time in the 200 back and went on to place sixth in that event at the Patriot League Championships. She added a seventh-place finish in the 200 IM, a 10th-place finish in the 100 back, and totaled 32 points at the league meet. She picked up Second Team All-Patriot League recognition.

An early childhood education major, Byrne posted a 3.66 GPA during the spring semester. She is a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

In addition to Byrne's individual honor, the Bison women were tabbed as a Scholar All-America Team by the CSCAA, an award given for teams that achieve a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the spring semester. The Bison had a team GPA of 3.47.
