LEWISBURG, Pa. – Maggie Wyngowski was tabbed as the Bison Athlete of the Week after winning a total of five individual events during the Bucknell women's swimming & diving team's weekend meets at Bryant and Boston University.
Wyngowski's efforts, which also included a relay win and runner-up finish, helped the Bison top both the Bulldogs (170-128) and the Terriers (167-133).
Against Boston University, the freshman dominated the competition, winning all three of her individual events and swimming the breaststroke leg for the first-place 200 medley relay team (1:47.04).
Wyngowski touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.93), 200 breaststroke (2:20.27) and 200 IM (2:07.19). Her time in the 200 breaststroke ranks ninth in school history.
During Bucknell's meet at Bryant, Wyngowski took first in both the 200 IM (2:07.47) and 1,000 freestyle (10:37.60). She contributed a total of 25 points as she also finished third in the 200 backstroke (2:07.37) and was a member of the second-place 200 medley relay team (1:48.79).
Previously, Wyngowski swam the seventh-fastest 400 IM (4:25.03) en route to a first-place finish during Bucknell's season-opening meet against UMBC on Sept. 30.
Wyngowski is the women's swimming & diving team's first Bison Athlete of the Week since Abigail Rosenberg was honored for the week ending in Dec. 4, 2016 after enjoying a record-breaking performance at the Bucknell Invitational. She is the first freshman to receive this award during the 2017-18 campaign.
Wyngowski and the Bison return to action on Saturday, Nov. 4 at noon when they welcome American, Lafayette and Navy to Kinney Natatorium.
