CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Bucknell's Julianna Foss, Maggie Wyngowski, Emma Hadley and Lindsay Smalec were recognized on the 2018 All-Patriot League Women's Swimming & Diving Team on the strength of their performance at the league's championship meet.
Foss earned a spot on the First Team for the fourth-straight season while Wyngowski, the Rookie of the Meet, also garnered First Team laurels. Hadley, a 2016 First Team selection, and Smalec were honored on the Second Team. The quartet accounted for 164 points to help the Bison capture a fourth-place finish.
Foss and Navy's Kaitlyn O'Reilly were the only members of the Patriot League's Class of 2018 who earned First Team accolades during each of their four seasons of collegiate competition.
Wyngowski and Foss ranked in the Patriot League's top 10 in point collectors at seventh (47) and eighth (46) respectively. They were two of only 10 athletes who earned at least 45 points for their team.
In addition, each set a new Bucknell standard in two individual events, with Wyngowski taking top billing in the 200 breaststroke (2:14.98) and 400 IM (4:17.80) and Foss topping her own school records in the 100 butterfly (54.48) and 200 butterfly (2:00.00). Foss was also a member of the record-setting 200 freestyle (1:33.36) and 400 freestyle (3:22.72) relay teams.
Foss earned a silver medal in the 200 butterfly and bronze in the 100 butterfly. She also scored in the 200 IM (6th, 2:02.55) and helped both of her relay teams place in the top five. She will graduate as a seven-time Patriot League medalist in individual events; she entered her final championship meet with two medals in the 100 butterfly (silver 2017, bronze 2015), two medals in the 200 butterfly (silver 2016, bronze 2015) and one in the 200 IM (bronze 2017).
Wyngowski excelled in her first Patriot League Championships, earning a silver medal in the 400 IM and also scoring in the 200 IM (4th, 2:02.26) and 200 breaststroke (4th). Her time in the 200 IM was good for third in school history.
Behind her standout debut, Wyngowski became the second Bison to be named the Rookie of the Meet, joining Emma Levendoski. Levendoski, who was honored at the 2013 Patriot League Championships, finished her career with eight conference championships, a total tied for third in school history.
Hadley earned a silver medal in the 200 backstroke (1:58.59) and also scored in the 100 backstroke (t-4th, 55.05) and 100 butterfly (14th, 56.38). She also led off the second-place 400 medley relay team, which set a school record with a time of 3:41.48.
Smalec scored in the 100 butterfly (6th, 54.84), 200 IM (7th, 2:03.88) and 200 butterfly (8th, 2:04.48). She was also a member of the record-breaking 400 freestyle and 800 freestyle relay (7:22.03) teams, both of which placed in the top four.
