CLOVIS, Calif. – Bucknell women’s track and field freshman Christine O’Kane competed Friday in Clovis, California at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium.

Entering as the last qualifier in the 5,000-meter event, O’Kane finished 12th in a field of 17 runners with a time of 17:42.74.

“What a great experience for Christine,” says head coach Kevin Donner. “She was the last qualifier and finished well above her seed and almost set another personal best. She beat and came close to beating some great runners who had seed times much faster. This experience should really kick start a great career for her.”

The race was won by Fiona O’Keefe in 15:56.84, while Anna Rohrer of Notre Dame finished second in 15:57.92. They will represent the United States in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
