LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bucknell's Maura Fiamoncini will represent the Bucknell women's track and field team at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships on Friday at Indiana University's Hayes Track at the Haugh Complex. Fiamoncini, a Second Team All-American in the javelin, is scheduled to compete at 1:30 p.m.
Fiamonci earned her Second Team All-America honor after finishing 13th at the NCAA Championships last weekend. She was the fourth-best freshman in the nation.
The season put together by Fiamoncini has been one of the best in program history and easily the best by a rookie. She won the Patriot League title in the javelin and followed that up with a title at the ECAC Championships. She was the only woman in the Patriot League to earn All-America status at the NCAA Championships.
In addition to the All-America honor and multiple titles, Fiamoncini owns the program record (184-5) in the javelin and the Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium record (178-2).
Fiamoncini enters the Junior Outdoor Championships as the top seed. Entering the national postseason events, she had the third-best throw in the nation amongst collegiate throwers.
The top two finishers in each event qualify for the U20 World Championships in Finland. That event will be held in July.
