LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the second time this season, Bucknell women’s track and field junior Kate Scott has been named Fifth Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week, after a fantastic performance at the ECAC Outdoor Championships at Princeton’s Weaver Stadium.
Scott won the title in the 10,000-meter run, becoming the third Bison in program history to win an individual title at the championship meet. Scott, the two-time Patriot League champion in the event, dominated the field, crossing the line in 35:15.07, while the second-place finisher completed the race in 35:36.89. Scott’s time is a new personal-record and the second-fastest mark in program history.
The other two Bison to win an individual title at the ECAC Championships are Melanie Buczko (2004, pole vault) and Christine Bendzinski, who won the 1,500-meter race over the weekend, placing first with a time of 4:24.11.
The Bison women turned in their best team performance at the ECAC Championships, finishing a program-best third out of 55 schools at the meet, while scoring a team-record 38 points.
