LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell sophomore Christine O’Kane is set to travel to Clovis, California for the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships on June 24-26 at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium. The top two finishers in each event will represent the United States in the IAAF World Junior Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
To qualify for the Junior Outdoor Championships, an athlete must be 19 years or younger. O’Kane qualified for the 5,000-meter race, which is scheduled for Friday at 9:00 p.m. O’Kane enters with a qualifying time of 17:36.18, which she earned at the Swarthmore Qualifier last May.
In her first season at Bucknell, O’Kane has proven to be a contributor to the women’s track and field team. She scored in the 5,000 and steeplechase events to help the Bison women capture their second-straight Patriot League outdoor title. The freshman also earned All-Patriot League honors as a member of the cross-country team.
