LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the third time this outdoor season, Bucknell freshman Kaitlin Salisbury has been named M-F Athletic Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week, announced by the league on Tuesday.
Salisbury continues to rack up the accolades in her first season at Bucknell. The Patriot League Rookie of the Meet at the indoor championships, this is Salisbury’s sixth Patriot League Rookie of the Week citation.
Salisbury scored in two events to help the Bison capture the team title at the Bucknell Team Challenge. The rookie helped a 4x100-meter relay squad comprised of Carli Lucke, Carly Reiner and Allison Sharkey take first-place with a time of 47.15, just one-hundredth of a second behind their best time of the season, a top-10 program mark.
In the 200m, she was the runner-up with a time of 24.93, now the seventh-fastest time in Bucknell history and the fourth-fastest in the Patriot League.
Christine Bendzinski was a honorable mention after breaking the school record in the 800m. Bendzinski completed the race in 2:08.76 to finish in first-place, breaking the previous best posted by Christa Sawko in 2006. Her performance is the second-fastest time in the league.
Stephanie Easse was also a honorable mention after winning the discus, recording a toss of 148-1. The senior currently owns the top throw in the Patriot League this season.
The Bison will compete one last weekend before the Patriot League Outdoor Championships. Bucknell will send a group of athletes to compete at the Penn Relays (Apr. 27-29), while another group will compete at Bloomsburg (Apr. 29).
