LEWISBURG, Pa. – For the second consecutive week, Bucknell freshman Kaitlin Salisbury has been tabbed M-F Athletic Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday, following a great weekend at the Maroon and Gold Invitational.
Salisbury broke a 13-year-old program record in the long jump en route to a first-place finish at the Bloomsburg meet. The rookie recorded a leap of 19-8 ¾, beating the previous best of 19-8 ¼ posted by Tolu Fayanjuola in 2004. Her mark is now the best in the Patriot League by eight inches.
It was one of two top-10 program marks posted by Salisbury. In the 100-meter, she recorded a time of 12.11, now fifth-fastest in program history and second-fastest in the league.
Salisbury has now earned seven Patriot League Female Rookie of the Week citations this season.
The Patriot League Outdoor Championships are slated for this weekend (May 5-6) at Lehigh. The final day of the meet will broadcast on the Patriot League Network. Bucknell is looking to capture its third consecutive outdoor title and the program's first triple crown since 2010.
