LEWISBURG, Pa. – Recent Bucknell graduate Christine Bendzinski, one of the best runners in school history while competing on the Bison cross country and track and field teams, was voted to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America Third Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
Bendzinski is the ninth Academic All-American in program history and the first since Caroline Tolli made the Second Team in 2013. She earns the award for the first time while in her third year of eligibility after earning three CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.
A cell biology/biochemistry major with a 3.84 GPA, Bendzinski is one of two Bucknell women’s cross country/track and field athlete to earn three Academic All-District honors. She joins Tolli, who made the team in three consecutive seasons from 2011-13.

She was a 14-time Patriot League champion (nine individual, five relay), earned 23 All-Patriot League honors (17 individual, six relay), and graduated with eight program-record times and two Patriot League Championships record times.
Bendzinski was the driving force behind three Patriot League titles in cross country, three titles at the league’s Indoor Championships, and three titles at the Outdoor Championships. She led the team to the Triple Crown – first-place finishes at all three championship events – during the 2016-17 season.
Academically, Bendzinski earned a total of four Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards and nine Academic All-Patriot League honors. She was an eight-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
