LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell’s Raeanne Geffert has been named the season’s first Patriot League Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday. The sophomore earns the award for the fourth time in her career.
Geffert went 1-1 with a 1.12 ERA in her 18.2 innings in the circle while making three appearances at the Campbell Invitational. She was outstanding in her first appearance of the year while leading the Bison to a season-opening 7-3 win over Campbell. She went the distance, allowing three runs on six hits and no walks while striking out six batters.
In her second start of the season, Geffert actually pitched even better but came up on the wrong end of an extra-inning pitchers’ duel. She hurled 7.2 innings in a 1-0, eight-inning loss to Morehead State, giving up one unearned run while allowing five hits and no walks. She followed that with four scoreless innings of relief with four strikeouts against Northern Kentucky the following day, giving her 10 strikeouts and no walks on the weekend.
The Bison will play five games at the Seahawk Classic in Wilmington, North Carolina, on Feb. 23-25. Included on the weekend schedule are two games against Maine, two against Longwood, and one against host UNCW.
