LEWISBURG, Pa. – Anna Gimmestad hit a solo home run, but that accounted for all of the Bucknell offensive output as the Bison fell 4-1 to Lehigh on Friday in the first of a three-game Patriot League softball series at Becker Field.

Bucknell (18-19-1, 7-3 PL) and Lehigh (13-20, 7-3 PL) are now tied for second in the league standings. Boston University moves into first place at 5-2.

The Bison trailed 3-0 before Gimmestad put them on the board with her solo shot down the left-field line in the bottom of the fourth inning. It was her fourth of the season and the team’s 30th.

Trailing 4-1, Bucknell had the tying run at the plate with no outs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Freshman Taylor Wolfgang’s made great contact, but the Lehigh third baseman made an excellent play to make the stop, touch third, and throw to first for a double play.

Parker Boyd went the distance to notch her 11th win of the season for Lehigh. She gave up five hits, didn’t walk a batter, and struck out 10.

Mary-Hannah Smith had the big hit for the Mountain Hawks, a two-run homer to center field to break a scoreless tie in the third inning.

Gimmestad finished with two hits for the Bison. Marisa Alemany, Meghan Kovac, and Lauren Hadley had one hit apiece.

Raeanne Geffert pitched all seven innings for Bucknell, giving up four runs, three earned, on eight hits. She didn’t walk a batter and struck out six.

The teams will conclude the three-game series with a doubleheader Saturday at noon. Celina Antonellis, Taylor Langtry, Paulina Gutkin, Maddie Minneci, and Kovac will be honored for Senior Day prior to the first game.
