HAMILTON, N.Y. – Bucknell softball completed a three-game sweep of Colgate with a 5-1 win Sunday at Eaton Street Field. Raeanne Geffert pitched a complete game to help the Bison improve to 23-19-1 overall and 12-3 in the Patriot League.

The sweep sets up a pivotal three-game series at Boston University (30-17, 10-2 PL) on April 28-29. With wins in at least two of the three games, Bucknell would clinch at least a share of the regular season title and hosting rights for the four-team Patriot League Tournament on May 10-12.

Geffert allowed five hits and didn’t walk a batter against Colgate on Sunday. She struck out seven batters while improving to 17-8 on the season.

The Bison took the lead with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Meghan Kovac drove in Anna Gimmestad with a double and later scored from third when Colgate threw out a runner attempting to steal second.

Kovac, already the program’s career leader in home runs and RBIs, now owns the team’s record for career doubles with 48.

Bucknell tacked on three runs in the seventh inning. Ryanne Rokos, who went 2-for-3 with a triple, drove in Tara Baglivo with a single. Two batters later, Gimmestad ripped a two-run double.

The Bison tallied six hits. Baglivo and Taylor Wolfgang each contributed a single.

The 12 league wins for Bucknell are just one shy of the program record of 13 set by the 2008 team.

Colgate, which dropped to 8-28 overall and 3-9 in the conference, was led offensively by Virginia Irby with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Before the big series at Boston University, Bucknell will play a non-conference doubleheader at Penn State on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
