LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell head men’s golf coach Mike Binney has announced that Rosemont, Pennsylvania native Peter Bradbeer has committed to joining the Bison program next season. Currently a senior at Friends Central School, Bradbeer has put together an impressive high school and junior golf resume.

Bradbeer is a two-year captain of the golf team at Friends Central, and he is already a three-time All-Friends League selection. Bradbeer won team and individual league titles as a ninth-grader, and he is a two-time junior club champion at Merion Golf Club.

Bradbeer was the 2014 Philadelphia PGA Junior Player of the Year after winning four of his seven Philadelphia Golf Tour events. He finished seventh at the Pennsylvania State Junior Championship at Hershey Country Club with rounds of 71-77.

On the junior golf circuit, he has a low round of 6-under-par 66 at Makefield Highlands Golf Club, where he finished second at the PJT Elite Tour event in July 2015. He was also runner-up at the Lessings AJGA Classic at Willow Creek with rounds of 70-70-68, and at the Philadelphia sectional qualifier for the 2015 Junior PGA Championship, where he shot 70-72.

“I am excited about Peter joining the team next fall,” said Binney, who is in his second year as Bucknell’s head men’s golf coach. “This past spring and summer, Peter really stepped up his game, and his results really showed. In several high-profile, competitive junior events, Peter showed that he can compete with anyone in the country. At the Hershey Junior Boys Championships and the AJGA Lessings, Peter put himself in position to win the tournament on the last day. Even though he finished just outside of medalist honors in both, he established himself as one of the best junior golfers in the region and showed he has what it takes to put himself in position to win golf tournaments. When he arrives on campus next fall, Bucknell Men's Golf will be that much better with him in the lineup.”

The Bucknell men’s golf team capped off a good fall season with a victory at the Lehigh Invitational in October. The Bison added third-place finishes at the Colgate Invitational and the Cornell Invitational in September. Connor O’Brien, one of Binney’s top recruits last season, led the team with a 74.2 stroke average and had three top-10 finishes in the fall.

The spring schedule gets underway March 14-15 at the Fox Club Collegiate in Palm City, Florida.
