HELLERTOWN, Pa. -- Freshman Connor O'Brien carded a terrific 1-over-par 72 in challenging weather conditions, and he is just one shot off the individual lead at the halfway mark of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Lafayette at Silver Creek Country Club. Bucknell posted a 318 team score on Sunday and is tied for 10th place in a field of 19 teams.

Players had to deal with chilly temperatures and sustained 20-30 mph winds, with gusts approaching 40 mph. O'Brien handled the conditions better than most, making four birdies, five bogeys and nine pars in his round. He started the day on the sixth hole and finished his round with two birdies and two pars over his final four holes.

O'Brien's four birdies were second-most in the field. Fordham's Matt Schiller made five in his even-par 71. Schiller leads O'Brien and Lehigh's Eamon Marone by one stroke and two other by two shots heading into Monday's final round.

Fordham has the team lead after compiling a 303 team score. Lafayette is second at 306, followed by Villanova (310), Lehigh (313) and St. Peter's (314). Bucknell and Manhattan are tied for 10th on a bunched leaderboard.

Backing up O'Brien's 72 were J.P. Raftery with a 79, D.J. Magee with an 83, Jubal Early with an 84, and Nick Geissler with an 86. Raftery, who fired a career-best 70 last week at Villanova's tournament, parred his first four holes and was 2-over on the front nine.

The 36-hole tournament finishes up on Tuesday.
