NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- J.P. Raftery posted rounds of 74 and 70 to finish in a tie for fifth place individually, and the Bucknell men's golf team placed seventh in a field of 13 teams at the Yale Invitational on Saturday at the Course at Yale.

Raftery's even-par 70 in round two was fourth-best of the afternoon, and his 144 total put him in a four-way tie for fifth alongside Yale's Li Wang, Brown's Kevin Li, and Cornell's Luke Graboyes. Will Bernstein of Yale secured medalist honors with a 1-under 139 (73-66), edging Cornell's Mike Graboyes by one stroke.

Backing up Raftery for the Bison, Jubal Early shot 71-79 to finish T-24th. Early was tied for second after his 1-over 71 in the morning. Peter Bradbeer shot 75-76, John Edler shot a pair of 77s, and Connor O'Brien tallied 80-78.

Host Yale ran away with the team title with a 9-over 569 total. Runners-up Drexel and Penn were 20 strokes behind. Bucknell, which won this event last year, finished one shot out of a top-five finish. St. John's and George Washington both finished with 597, one better than Bucknell's 598.

The Bison will be back in action Apr. 22-23 at the Navy Invitational.
