BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The Bucknell men's golf team compiled a 303 on Friday and is tied for second place in a field of 12 teams at the halfway mark of the Lehigh Invitational. Peter Bradbeer fired a 2-over-par 74 to lead the Bison, who are tied with Hofstra and eight shots back of host Lehigh with another 18 holes still to come on Saturday.
Led by a 1-under 71 from individual leader Billy Johns, the Mountain Hawks posted a 295 total in the opening round. Bucknell and Hofstra are tied for second on a cramped leaderboard at 303. St. John's (304), Rider (304), Monmouth (305), Iona (306) and Fordham (308) are all within five shots of the Bison.
Bradbeer is tied for seventh place after his 74. He shot 37 on both sides and made three birdies and nothing worse than bogey. J.P. Raftery had a great round going -- he held the lead at 1-under through 13 holes, but bogeys on four of his last five holes dropped him to T-10th with a 75. Connor O'Brien followed with a 76, Chris Tanabe shot 78, and Jubal Early had an 81.
Bucknell will vie for its third straight title at the Lehigh Invitational when the tournament concludes on Saturday. Bucknell's tee times start at 11:20 a.m. The Bison will be paired with Lehigh and Hofstra.
