HAMILTON, N.Y. – Saturday’s men’s tennis match between Bucknell and Colgate couldn’t have been more evenly matched, with the Raiders taking the 4-3 win thanks in large part to eking out the doubles point in a tiebreaker on court two.
The Raiders then won three of the first five completed singles matches to clinch the victory, improving to 10-6 overall and 3-1 in the Patriot League.
In addition to his doubles win, Kane had a victory on court four in singles. He took the first set with ease, 6-2, and then battled for a 7-6 (7-2) win in set two.
“It was all about capitalizing on opportunities,” Bucknell head coach Bruce Myers said. “Colgate did a great job winning the close matches, tie-breaks, and no-ad points.”
Bucknell fell to 9-16 overall and 3-3 in the Patriot League. The Bison will play a league match against Lehigh at Racquet Club West in Lancaster on Sunday at 1 p.m.
