LEWISBURG, Pa. - The Bucknell men's tennis squad began its fall season in the Bloomsburg Invitational on Saturday morning in Lewisburg, Pa. The Bison produced a total of nine wins in the first day of competition, including six doubles matches.

In the men's singles against Bloomsburg, Zach Hascoe (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) led the Bison men with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Dan Phillips, which was his first collegiate victory. Dan Bednarek (Haworth, N.J./Bergan Catholic) won 6-3, 6-0 over Will Biddle while Sid Makkar (Queens, N.Y./Bronx School of Science) wrapped up the team singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Geoff Whitely.

In the men's team doubles against Villanova, Bucknell would take four matches out of five. Ira Reibeisen (Armonk, N.Y./Rye County Day Upper School) and Ben Young (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) led the way with a 8-6 win over Dimitri Chimerakis and Sean Daly. Jon Brenner (Manhasset, N.Y./Chaminade) and Ryan Sandburg (Orange, Calif./Canyon) notched a 8-4 score over Brian Maher and Brett Tobin. Bednarek and Hascoe teamed in the match against Sumanth Chitajailu and Alex Leeser winning 9-7 while Makkar and Brian Cohen (Potomac, Md./Thomas Sprigg Wootton) won a convincing 8-2 match over Matt Krawczyx and Larry Tran. Against Binghamton, the team of Brenner and Sandburg prevailed 8-4 while Bednarek and Hascoe won 8-5.

The Bison will be in action tomorrow as they finish off the Bloomsburg Invitational here at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa. Start time is 8:30 a.m.
