LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell head coach Rebecca Helt has announced that seniors Emilie Bush and Lisa Jouravleva have been named captains for the 2018 women’s tennis season. They will lead the Bison as they begin their final year at Bucknell with a pair of matches this weekend.
“We delayed picking our captains this year, not because we are lacking leadership, but because we wanted to take some time as a team to really explore what it means to be a captain,” Helt said. “It's one thing to be a good teammate and do the right things. It's another, quite difficult skill, to hold others accountable. But this is something our entire team agreed was an important job for any captain. Everyone played a role in deciding this season's captains. I feel good about the leadership that Emilie and Lisa will provide to the team. “
Emilie and Lisa, along with the entire senior class, have been exemplary student-athletes since their freshmen year. Jouravleva, a double major in sociology and French, was a First Team All-Patriot League selection last season, and is a two-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Bush, a global management major, is a three-time member of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and has been named an ITA Scholar-Athlete twice. She is also a three-year member of the Bucknell Athletics Leadership Institute.
