LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell’s Lauren Fishbein has been named the Corvias Patriot League Female Tennis Player of the Week. It is the first career weekly honor for the sophomore and the first for the Bison team this season.
Fishbein helped the Bison capture a 6-1 victory over Marist on Friday, winning at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles. The sophomore partnered with Michele Urbinati and defeated the Red Foxes’ top duo, 6-4. She then captured a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 2 over Marist’s returning First Team All-MAAC selection Ariel Shulman.
Fishbein is a perfect 5-0 this spring, including a 4-0 mark at No. 2 singles. She is 3-2 while teaming with Urbinati at No. 1 doubles.
Bucknell is off to a 5-1 start with wins over La Salle, Binghamton, St. Bonaventure, Niagara, and Marist. The one loss came by just one point to Marist.
The Bison return to action with a match against Delaware in Elkton, Maryland, on Saturday at 6:45 p.m.
