BALTIMORE, Md. – Ten different Bucknell players had singles wins on the day as the Bison went 2-0 with road victories over Loyola and Coppin State. The Bison improved to 9-5 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League, beating the Greyhounds 6-1 and the Eagles 7-0.

Bucknell opened with the league win over Loyola at the McClure Tennis Center, led by a three-set win by junior Lisa Jouravleva over Amanda Lanciano on court one. Jouravleva improved to 6-0, prevailing with scores of 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. The two met last year at No. 2 singles, with Lanciano winning in straight sets.

Madeline Melch became the first Bison player to reach double-digit wins this spring, improving to 10-4 – including her win against Coppin State later in the day -- with a 6-3, 6-3 win on court five. Lauren Fishbein is right behind her at 9-3 after 6-2, 6-2 on court two.

Adding straight-sets wins against the Greyhounds were Michele Urbinati (court three) and Paige Leavy (court four).

The Bison easily won the doubles point with a clean sweep. Fishbein and Urbinati won 6-3 on court one, Emilie Bush and Jouravleva shut out their opponents 6-0 on court two, and Parks and Jill Auteri won 6-3 on court three.

Loyola dropped to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the Patriot League.

Immediately following the match against Loyola, Bucknell made the short trip to the campus of Coppin State and recorded the shutout victory. Leavy and Melch each won for the second time on the day, doing so on courts one and two, respectively. Melch didn’t give up a set in her 6-0, 6-0 victory.

Parks moved up to court three for a straight-sets win. She was followed in order with wins by Jill Auteri, Danielle Gannon, and Allie Lane. Auteri and Gannon won in straight sets, while Lane was a 1-6, 6-0, 10-2 winner.

The Bison again easily won the doubles point. Gannon and Parks teamed for a 6-1 triumph on court one, Leavy and Auteri were 6-1 winners on court two, and Lane and Melch shut out their opponents 6-0 on court three.

“It was a good team effort today,” Bucknell head coach Rebecca Helt said. “We still have some things to work on, but it's nice to have the kind of depth we do. It allows me to take a look at several players and doubles combinations.”

Coppin State fell to 1-5 overall.

Bucknell will stay in Maryland for a match against Navy on Sunday at 10 a.m.
