LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women’s tennis closed the weekend with a 6-1 win over visiting Lafayette on the Varsity Tennis Courts on Sunday. The Bison improved to 10-7 overall and 2-3 in the Patriot League.
“It feels good to get another win under our belt,” Bucknell head coach Rebecca Helt said. “It was another showcase of the solid depth we have on this team. If we can get our execution better, we should start seeing the kind of results we want.”
Michele Urbinati and Jill Auteri had three-set wins for Bucknell. Urbinati dropped the first set 6-1, but rolled to 6-0, 6-3 wins in the final two to pick up a win on court one. Auteri and Lafayette’s Meredith Block traded 6-4 wins in the first two sets on court five before Auteri prevailed with a 10-8 victory in a tiebreak set.
Bucknell swept the doubles matches, including a 6-0 shutout by Gannon and Melissa Parks on court two. Bish and Urbinati won 6-1 on court one, while Leavy and Auteri were 6-3 victors on court three.
Lafayette fell to 6-11 overall and 1-4 in the Patriot League.
Bucknell returns to action when it hosts Towson on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
