LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women’s tennis team had seven players earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status. Additionally, the Bison were tabbed as an ITA All-Academic Team after posting a 3.61 GPA during the 2016-17 academic year.

The team’s two seniors led the way with the highest GPAs during the fall and spring semesters. Michele Urbinati, a double major in English-Literary Studies and Economics, recorded a 3.85 GPA, while Melissa Parks, a double major in economics and political science, posted a 3.81.

The senior captains were joined as ITA Scholar-Athletes by juniors Emilie Bush, Allie Lane, and Madeline Melch, sophomore Danielle Gannon, and freshman Jill Auteri.

Bucknell’s seven selections were the most of any team from the Patriot League. Last year, the Bison led the nation with nine honorees.

All-Academic Team awards are handed out to programs that have a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (4.00 scale) for a given school year. In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status, a student athlete must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 (4.00 scale) for the current academic year and have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters.
