LEWISBURG, Pa. – Eleven matches remain on the regular season schedule, and the Bucknell volleyball team has already surpassed last season’s win total. The Bison improved to 8-7 overall and 2-3 in the Patriot League with a five-set win over Lafayette on Saturday. They will look to add to both of those win totals in a pair of upcoming matches against conference opponents.

Bucknell will host Loyola (Md.) on Friday at 7 p.m., and will have a two-day break before an away match against Colgate on Monday at 6 p.m. Both matches will be shown free of charge on the Patriot League Network.

Freshman Blake Buchholz was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week after back-to-back solid performances in Bucknell’s matches against Lehigh and Lafayette. She averaged 18 kills and 13 digs in the two matches, and now leads the team in digs per set (3.0) and is second in kills per set (2.53).

Seniors Meghan Wentzel and Karen Campbell took charge in the win over Lafayette. Wentzel set a career-high with 50 assists, while Campbell had 15 of her 17 kills and six of her eight total blocks in the final three sets. In the fifth and deciding set, she factored in on seven of the team’s 15 points with six kills and one block assist.
