LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell volleyball team is still in the running for a spot in the Patriot League Tournament as it prepares for a pair of critical league matches this weekend. After a five-match road trip, the Bison finally return to Davis Gym when they host Lafayette on Friday at 7 p.m., and follow that with an away match at Lehigh on Saturday at 4 p.m.
Bucknell is 10-11 overall and 4-7 in conference matches after falling to American in three sets and Navy in five last weekend. The Bison are currently tied for fifth in the league standings, with Lehigh being one of the teams still in striking range.
Blake Buchholz posted back-to-back double-doubles in last weekend’s matches. She tallied 11 kills and 12 digs against American and followed that with 14 kills and 13 digs at Navy. The freshman has posted double-digit digs in each of the past four matches, including three where she also recorded double-digit kills. She ranks second in digs/set (3.04) among all Patriot League rookies.
Seniors Karen Campbell and Meghan Wentzel continue to rank in the top 10 in the league in their respective categories. Campbell is second in blocks (1.17/set), fourth in hitting percentage (.349) and sixth in kills (3.00/set).
Including this weekend, the Bison have five matches remaining on the schedule, all of which are against Patriot League opponents.

Lafayette is 11-11 overall and 3-8 in the Patriot League after a 3-0 loss to American in its most recent match. The 11 wins are already a five-win improvement over its win total from a season ago. The Leopards rank second in the league in opponents’ hitting percentage (.184), aces/set (1.67) and digs/set (15.80). A trio of players have excelled in the serving game, led by Jet Manzi, who leads the league at 0.44/set. Meghan Donohue ranks third and Maria Balus is fifth.
Bucknell leads 39-23 in the all-time series with Lafayette. The Bison have won four straight, including a 3-2 victory in the first meeting this season. The Leopards’ last win came on Oct. 6, 2013.

Lehigh is 15-11 overall and 7-4 in the conference after a 3-0 win over Loyola (Md.). The Mountain Hawks have won three of their past four matches, with the lone loss coming to Navy. The Bison will go against a tough serving team for the second consecutive day, as the Mountain Hawks lead the Patriot League in aces/set (1.69), led by Ana Vrhel with 0.41/set. Vrhel also ranks third in blocks/set (1.11) and fifth in hitting percentage (.315).
Lehigh leads the all-time series 44-26, including a 3-0 win at Bucknell earlier this season. The Mountain Hawks have won the past five meetings.
