LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Patriot League announced its final weekly award recipients of the season for volleyball on Monday, and Bucknell senior Karen Campbell was named the Molten Player of the Week for the second time.
Campbell is the first Bucknell player to be named Player of the Week twice in one season since Jenna Henderson in 2006. Only three players in program history have accomplished the feat. The third was Katie Steele in 1993.
Campbell closed out her career by leading the Bison to two wins last weekend over Army West Point and Holy Cross. Bucknell’s 3-1 win over the Black Knights was the first since 2006 and ended a 17-match losing streak in the series. The senior had a team-high 17 kills, .389 hitting percentage, and five block assists. In the 3-0 sweep of Holy Cross, Campbell contributed nine kills on one error in 22 attempts to hit .364, in addition to collecting six block assists.
Bucknell finished the season 14-12, its best mark since 2006. The Bison finished fifth in the Patriot League standings, just one spot outside of the four-team conference tournament.
