LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell volleyball team went 14-12 this fall to post its best record in nine years. Head coach Anna Allison has announced a five-player recruiting class that she hopes will help keep the momentum moving forward when they arrive on campus for the 2016 season. Joining the Bison next season will be Sophie Bullard, Bridgette Holland, Mimi Richards, Selby Schnobrich and Brooke Stark.

“I am very excited about this class,” Allison said. “We are bringing in five very talented players that will help us to continue to build a strong foundation to our program. We are looking to this class to increase our average and raise our level of competitiveness. They have been competing at very high levels, and I cannot wait to have them in the gym.”

The following is a closer look at each player set to join the Bison next season:

Sophie Bullard (Key Biscayne, Fla./Ransom Everglades) | 5-10 | OH
Five-year letterwinner and team captain as a senior at Ransom Everglades School … named team’s Offensive MVP following her junior and senior seasons … also earned MVP honors at the Venice Beach Tournament during her senior season … helped Ransom Everglades make the Class 4A state finals four straight years and win the state title her sophomore season … played for the Tribe Volleyball Club … also excelled in tennis, playing on a team that won the 2013 state title and finished as the runner-up in 2014 … served as the team captain and played at No. 4 singles … daughter of William and Philippa Bullard … has one sibling, Olivia … father competed in the 1983 America’s Cup trial as the bow-man of the British team and was a member of the crew that set the sailing world speed record in 1979.

Allison on Sophie Bullard – “Sophie is very skilled in the front row and back row. She plays with a lot of energy and enthusiasm. I love that she always has a smile on her face.”

Bridgette Holland (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo) | 6-0 | MB
Two-year team captain at Oviedo High School … named to the 2015 Under Armour All-American Watch List … two-time All-Central Florida Honorable Mention … two-time all-conference selection … twice named her team’s Offensive Player of the Year … helped Oviedo win the Class 7A state championship in 2013 … member of the Orlando Volleyball Academy … daughter of Stephen and Laura Holland … has one sibling, Jessie Mutz.

Allison on Bridgette Holland – “Bridgette is a great player, is very mature, and plays a smart game. She is extremely athletic. She will increase our offensive power and blocking in the front row.”

Mimi Richards (Richardson, Texas/J.J. Pearce High School) |6-1 | MB
Four-year letterwinner and a team captain her senior season at J.J. Pearce High School … two-time all-district selection … named academic all-district three times … helped J.J. Pearce finish unbeaten in district play in three seasons … team made the Class 6A state quarterfinals her junior season and the round of 16 her senior year … played for Madfrog Volleyball Club … daughter of Troy and Bridget Richards … has two siblings, Chloe and Sam … cousin, Sarah Strasner is a junior on the Tulane volleyball team.

Allison on Mimi Richards – “Mimi hits a heavy ball and is very versatile. She is also a skilled blocker and smart hitter.”

Selby Schnobrich (Sylmar, Calif./Village Christian) |5-10 | S
Four-year letterwinner and two-year team captain at Village Christian School … 2014 NCSAA All-American … PrepVolleyball All-American Honorable Mention … three-time First Team All-Olympic League selection … two-time All-CIF selection… named to Los Angeles Daily News All-Area Second Team twice and the Newcomer of the Year in 2012 … led team to 2015 California Division II state runner-up finish … holds school’s single-season record for assists (1,371) and career assists (4,285) … Village Christian won two Olympic League titles during her four years and went 36-4 in 2014, the winningest season in school history … member of the Los Angeles Volleyball Academy … named a Village Christian School Scholar-Athlete every year … PrepVolleyball Academic All-American … also a four-year letterwinner in beach volleyball … daughter of Bill and Blanca Schnobrich … has one sibling, Felix … father was NAIA All-American soccer player at Northwestern College.

Allison on Selby Schnobrich – “Selby has a very good volleyball IQ and has the ability to make her hitters better. She is a fierce competitor and as a setter has the potential to be a great leader on and off the court.” 

Brooke Stark (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) | L
Team captain and four-year Scholar-Athlete honoree at Westlake High School … two-time All-Marmonte League selection, including First Team honors as a senior … helped lead her team to four straight Marmonte League titles … averaged 4.3 digs per set as a senior … also played club volleyball for Legacy … played sand volleyball at Westlake, where she led her team to the 2013 IBVL title … daughter of Stephen and Jill Stark … has one sibling, A.J. … father played baseball at Stanford.

Allison on Brooke Stark – “Brooke has amazing ball control and plays with a "dig or die" mentality. She is a very skilled passer and gives out great energy.”
